About the beach
The private beach at the Hotel Les Roches enjoys one of the best beach locations in the South of France. Sheltered by pine trees, the sun loungers are arranged on a terrace that is built on top of the crystal clear sea of Le Lavandou. The swimming conditions in the sea are excellent, but there is also a pool for those who would prefer it. The beach club has an extremely relaxing French Riviera feel to it, and guests can take advantage of the range of massages that the in-house spa offers. A full range of water sports is provided from the pontoon, including scuba diving, canoeing, jet skiing, water skiing and fishing trips. The beach waiter is extremely friendly, and will attentively serve drinks directly to your sun lounger whilst you admire the breathtaking Mediterranean vista, and listen to the sound of the waves gently lapping at the edge of the terrace. There is an excellent restaurant serving light bites on the beach or more gourmet cuisine in the dining room, which has panoramic views of the Côte d’Azur. The lounge bar, known as Le Hype Bar, is open all day, and in the evening becomes a piano bar with a superb selection of some of the most delicious cocktails in Provence.

Le Lavandou is a lovely fishing village on the French Riviera, benefitting from 12km of sandy beaches. The town has a nice feel to it, and hosts a weekly fresh fish market every Thursday. There are plenty of restaurants and cafés in which to while away a sunny afternoon by the Mediterranean. The surrounding Provencal countryside is very pretty, and there are some wonderful marked walking and cycling trails nearby.
Le Lavandou has become a popular game fishing hub, and trips can be arranged from various companies at the marina. It is also one of the best diving spots in the South of France, due to its proximity to the Port Cros National Park, and the shipwrecks around the Iles d’Or. The waters are warm and clear, and divers can expect to see lots of groupers, and maybe even barracudas.
The Iles d’Or are a group of three islands just off the coast of Le Lavandou. Port Cros, Porqueroles and Le Levant, are home to some of the most beautiful scenery on the Côte d’Azur, with their crystal clear turquoise waters, and well preserved pine forests. There are strong environmental restrictions, and as such, there is a diverse range of flora and fauna to be found here.
The nearby Medieval village of Bormes-les-Mimosas is one of the most beautiful places in the Var region of France. The immaculate little streets uncover some magnificent architecture, some lovely chapels and some talented craftsmen at work.
How to get there
By car: Take the ‘Autoroute du Soleil’ and exit at Hyères. Follow signs for Le Lavandou.
By train: Train to Toulon or Hyères, then either bus or taxi to Le Lavandou.

The excellent restaurant at Les Roches private beach serves traditional Mediterranean cuisine, such as lobster grilled over a log fire. During the daytime, there is a range of light bites which can be enjoyed from the comfort of one of the waterfront sun loungers on the beach. For a more gourmet experience, diners can sit inside the restaurant, which has jaw-dropping views out to the beautiful coves and inlets of the Côte d’Azur.
