PLAGE ROYALE, private beach, Cannes, French Riviera
About the beach
Just a shady walk away from the world famous Palais de Festivals, along the chic Boulevard de la Croisette, Plage Royale boasts an idyllic setting to relax on your very own private beach on the Riviera. The private wharf turns into a natural solarium and there is a friendly team ready to offer you a personal service direct to your sun lounger situated along the 780m of golden sand. The covered terrace offers a break from the intense Riviera sun and gives you the chance to relax in the shade with a cocktail from the private beach bar. For the more active holiday-maker, Plage Royale gives you the opportunity to practice your water skiing, learn how to swim or work out in the Aquagym. Why not take advantage of one of the boat trips to the Lerins Islands or, if you would prefer to appreciate the French Riviera from above, both parachuting and flights over the bay are available. The private beach bar and restaurant is the ideal venue to host weddings, parties and business conferences. Plage Royale specialises in accommodating private events and works with the renowned Artistes & Events company to provide spectacular evening shows and fireworks. Within easy reach from many of the beach hotels Plage Royale is open daily from 9am – 6pm and is close to all the local amenities that Cannes city centre has to offer.
Cannes, one of the world’s cultural hubs, is a popular hotspot for the rich and famous and over time the city has evolved to meet the needs and demands of the world’s most prominent celebrities. If you desire a break from the picturesque seaside walk along the Boulevard de la Croisette and are tired of admiring the extravagant boats and yachts moored at the water’s edge of Port Pierre Canto, you could always pop into one of the many fashion boutiques and designer shops that line the boulevard.
Being one of the most prominent art and culture centres in Europe, the Palais des Festivals which hosts the annual Cannes film festival, is a must see with its theatre, dance, music and circus performances all year round. The rest of the city has a booming night-life with streets jam-packed with bars and restaurants which act as watering holes for the wealthy and beautiful.
During the day, why not take a ride on Le Petit Train (The Little Train) up to Le Suquet , the historical centre of the city. Enjoy a coffee in one of the little cafés hidden down the winding streets, admire the fabulous views of the city and then pay a visit to le Notre Dame de l’Espérance before heading back down to the seafront below. Le Petit Train also offers tours of La Croisette and enables you to follow in the footsteps of the celebrities that have walked there over the years. The tours, reasonably priced at € 7 per adult and €3 per child can be combined for €10 per adult and €5 per child to offer a complete overview of this famous city.
Taking a short boat ride from the mainland to the Lerins Islands is a fantastic way to spend one of your days holidaying in the French Riviera. The largest island, Sainte Marguerite, not only offers an insight into history with its Musée de la Mer (Sea museum) where you can view relics form ancient Roman and Saracen shipwrecks, but also the chance to enjoy the Mediterranean sea through water sports such as water skiing and parascending . What is more, the flora and fauna that can be spotted on one of the breath-taking walks around the island is not to be missed.
One of the other great opportunities available in Cannes is to rent a boat for a day and tour the beautiful coastline.
