About the beach
La Baie Dorée is situated in Baie de la Garoupe, one of the prettiest bays in the whole of the South of France. Its calm, clear waters make it a popular place for yachts to moor up, and the swimming conditions are exceptional. On a clear day, the beach enjoys picture-perfect views of the Côte d’Azur, which can be enjoyed from the comfortable sun loungers on the raised decking area. The old town of Antibes is not far from the beach, and is a fantastic area to pass a few hours. A network of small streets and alleys is home to many charming shops and restaurants where you can find traditional gifts and souvenirs or enjoy a café whilst watching the passers by. The covered Marché Provençale is a food lover’s paradise, with a multitude of stalls teeming with local produce, charcuterie, flowers and handicrafts.
Situated in the Baie de la Garoupe, the La Baie Dorée beach is perfectly positioned as a start or finish point for the romantic walk around the stunning Cap d’Antibes. Le Chemin de Contrebandiers (the smugglers’ path) hugs the beautiful Riviera coastline, taking in the sights of the magnificent villas and the dazzling turquoise coves of the Mediterranean sea. The walk takes around 1.5 hours and you can return to the beach via the road.
Not far from La Baie Dorée beach, at the highest point of the Cap d’Antibes, lies the delightful old chapel of Nôtre Dame des Amoureux, as well as a powerful working lighthouse that warns boats away from the rocky coastline. The chapel is steeped in history, having been used as a place of worship since the 5th century, and has a collection of old paintings, statues and offerings to the saints. From up here, at the top of the Cap d’Antibes, you can enjoy a superb view over the surrounding bays and beaches of the Côte d’Azur, the Lérins islands and the old ramparts in the town of Antibes.

How to get there
By car: Rent a car with Easy Car Booking.
Take the Antibes exit from the A8 motorway, and follow signs for Antibes center. The follow the coastal road around the Cap d’Antibes until you reach Chemin de la Garoupe, where you will find La Baie Dorée.
By bus: Bus number 2 leaves from the bus station in Antibes and stops at Garoupe.
By train: Get a train to Antibes and then either a taxi to Chemin de la Garoupe

Beach restaurant
The restaurant offers a light menu of locally caught fish, fresh vegetables and pastas, as well as pizzas and other snack food. The service is friendly and efficient, and the setting on the Cap d’Antibes is divine. The Plat du Jour is around €30, the fixed menu is €45, and the children’s menu is €20.
