MIAMI PLAGE, private beach, Monaco, French Riviera
About the beach
Miami plage has been operating as a private beach in the principality of Monaco for over 35 years. It is situated on Larvotto beach, a relatively tranquil corner of the city, and its friendly team and peaceful ambiance ensure that it is a continual favourite with both Monegasque residents and tourists alike. The emphasis is on relaxation, and guests can make the most of doing very little, while lounging under a parasol by the water’s edge. There is an informal restaurant and a snack bar, and the beach club team is also happy to organise events or children’s parties. It is open every day of the year, from 9am to midnight.

Monaco is a diverse, multicultural country, which exudes wealth and glamour. As such it is no wonder that this Riviera destination provides a multitude of exciting things to do, offering something for everyone.
Visitors should take a trip up to the old part of the city (Le Rocher), where they can explore the little winding streets that hide some wonderful shops, restaurants and cafés. There are various examples of beautiful architecture to be admired, such as the Prince’s Palace and the Monaco cathedral. The old town is also home to some interesting museums, the best of which is the Oceanographic Institute, where 4000 species of fish are displayed, including some that have never been successfully kept in captivity elsewhere in the world.
Casino Square is a must do for visitors to Monaco, which is renowned for its sophisticated poker, roulette and blackjack tables. Start the evening with drinks at Café de Paris, before heading for a night of glitz and glamour at the Casino. To ensure entry to this prestigious venue, it is important for visitors to dress smartly, and to carry a passport with them. Next to the casino is the beautiful Allée des Boulingrins, where interesting sculptures and rare plants are spread out amongst the impeccably maintained gardens.
Les Jardins Exotiques, set up in the hills above Montecarlo, is home to over 1000 species of cacti, as well as an impressive cave, where bizarre rock formations can be seen. The views from the gardens are tremendous, taking in the stunning Côte d’Azur coastline below.
The famous Monaco Grand Prix, which attracts rich and famous people from around the world to the principality every year, is one of the things for which Monaco is best known. When the race is not on, it is still possible to walk around the famous circuit, which holds so many years of history.
Monaco is well known on the Côte d’Azur for its animated nightlife, and crowds of young party-goers flock to the streets every evening to enjoy the many bars, restaurants and nightclubs. Join the crowds of people dancing until the small hours at the likes of Jimmy’z, La Rascasse and Black Legend. If the morning after is taking its toll, it might be an idea to pay a visit to the Thermes Marin spa and wellness centre, for some excellent relaxation and pampering.
One of the other great opportunities available in Monaco is to rent a boat for a day and tour the beautiful coastline.
