Sainte Maxime is well situated in the heart of the Var, and offers many attractions to its visitors. A day out at Aqualand will provide fun for all the family, with its exciting selection of waterslides and flumes. The town is also well connected with cycle routes that follow the Mediterranean coastline round towards St Tropez and the charming village of Port Grimaud. It is possible to hire bikes at various locations within the town, and this is a fantastic way to discover some pretty coves along the Côte d’Azur. The Botanical Gardens are also worth a visit- it is free to enter and you can enjoy over 60 species of rare Mediterranean plants.
There is beautiful countryside inland from Sainte Maxime to explore, including lovely vineyards and forests. There are some great walks to do in the Maures hills, and it is also possible to go horse riding in the nearby area. There are also various excellent golf courses in the vicinity, including the Golf Club de Beauvallon, and the Gassin Golf Club.
There are some very pretty historical villages nearby to explore, such as La Garde Freinet, with its traditional Provençale charm, and Grimaud, with its beautiful little streets leading up to the old castle ruins.
One of the other great opportunities available in St-Tropez to is to rent a boat for a day and tour the beautiful coastline.
How to get there
By car: From the A8 motorway, take the exit towards Draguinan, Le Muy and St Tropez. Then take the RD25 to Sainte Maxime. For more information contact Easy Car Booking.
By train: There is a train station at Toulon (1 hour away) or at St Raphael (40 minutes away). From the station, you would require a taxi to Sainte Maxime.
